The aim of the spouses was to be based more splendid than the recently completed Gaudio Casa Batlló. Gaudí thought that Casa Mila will be built in the spirit of religious symbolism. Overtly religious elements of this building certainly was carrying a statue of the Virgin Mary and the archangels Michael and Gabriel.

But thanks to these elements, the Gaudi buildings and the owners got into a dispute with the former government, which banned certain symbols. The owners insisted on a fear of decision elements with the spirit symbols omitted which Gaudímu like. His relations with his family Mila strongly cooled and was determined to leave the building unfinished, but persevered. Nevertheless, some details of the Casa Mila unfinished, although it is only a few things.

However, this experience is probably reflected in the decision Gaudi, Casa Mila six floor that was his last secular building. Having already devoted only to the construction of the Sagrada Familia church. It is the tallest residential building ever built by Gaudí. The facade of the building consists of a massive wave of raw stone (limestone) and in the same spirit, made the windows and doors. Thanks to the monolithic stone house looks like a rock inside the cave with the individual or a coral reef. The futuristic nature of the house also provides interior decorating. Like almost all of its buildings here Gaudí invented a new element to its organic architecture continuously enrolled in the character of Barcelona.

In the case of Casa Mila replace patio round courtyards, expanding upwards. This shape gives them the appearance of giant funnel, but is not there merely as a decorative motif, with particular practical importance, because they permeate the building with lots of light and air. Light that penetrates through to the attic. Currently on display are two apartments on the sixth floor, attic and roof.

Open spaces, essentially as a multimedia exhibition of Gaudí's work and life. There are two maintained apartments with Gaudi Art Nouveau furniture, with some trends of contemporary living. An example is the combination kitchen, which Gaudí defended by a woman for the preparation of food should be in close contact with the rest of the family. Casa Mila was in 1984, included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
